Abstract

"Business Maine: Southern" piece briefly reporting that the number of slips available for recreational boats in Portland Harbor could increase by a third this summer. Maine Yacht Center, located at the entrance to Portland's Back Cove has received city approval for 86 slips, which it plans to rent to 35- to 120-foot boats at $120 per foot per season. The marina will cater to high-end boaters with amenities that include high-speed Internet access, greens privileges at Falmouth County Club and organized social gatherings. Aspasia Marina, near Salt Water Grill and Sunset Marina in South Portland, plans to build 234 slips, to be made available at $60 a foot. Aspasia's plan are tied up in a dispute with South Portland over the marina's parking lot.
