    Abstract

"Business Maine: Central & Western" piece briefly reporting that Gov. John Baldacci's Dirigo Health plan recently received support from the state's hospitals and insurance companies. Under the compromise, described as "painful," caps on hospital cost and profit increases would be "voluntary." The fee on insurance companies would be both lowered to 4 percent and postponed until the program has been running for three months, and insurance companies would be allowed to recoup that cost from customers.
