    Abstract

    "Business Maine: Midcoast & Downeast" piece reporting that U.S. District Judge Gene Carter recently slapped Atlantic Salmon of Maine and Stolt Sea Farm Inc. with $50,000 fines and banned the companies from stocking their pens with European fish as part of a final water pollution lawsuit brought by U.S. Public Interest Research Group. In addition, Carter banned the companies from stocking any fish in their pens for two years to allow the conditions under their pens to improve. In the suit, the companies were accused of discharging excess feed, waste and medication from their pens into Maine waters.
