Abstract

"Newsworthy" piece on Joseph Westphal, chancellor of the University of Maine System, and his system-wide reorganization plan that was approved by trustees on Sept. 20. Westphal says the reorganization was planned to streamline operations and boost efficiency at the individual university level, ultimately saving an estimated $12 million a year. A union representing faculty members plans to try to have the reorganization blocked through legislative intervention.
