Abstract
"Focus on Lewiston-Auburn" piece on the revival of the struggling Central Maine Civic Center, now known as the Lewiston Colisee. General Manager Wayne Thornton is pitching the Colisee "Walk of Fame," where donors can have their name carved in a paving stone at the entrance. Other steps towards self-sufficiency include the arrival of the Lewiston Maineiacs hockey team last year, efforts to host other events at the center, the as yet unfinished upscale lounge/membership club, cutting operating costs, and a possible corporate naming deal. The city acquired ownership after renovations promised to the Maineiacs fell behind schedule, and the team threatened to withhold rental payments. Details.
