Abstract
Portland-based Planet Dog, a six-year-old company selling pet products, is opening a retail store on Marginal Way in an effort to become profitable and as a way to test out ideas. The new store will be in addition to Planet Dog's wholesale and Internet sales as well as sales of specially branded products for large retailers. The store will compete with nearby pet retailers and the Wild Oats grocery, all of which carry Planet Dog products. Alex Fisher and co-founder Stew Maloney recently brought in outside CEO Bill Franklin, who expects next year's revenues to bring the company to the break-even mark.
