Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on proposed changes to the state unemployment program. A Department of Labor proposal would continue the part-time worker unemployment benefit scheduled to end next fall. Peter Gore, a lobbyist for the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, opposed the legislation on the grounds that expanding the benefits program to cover part-time workers will mean higher employer taxes.
