Abstract

"Focus on Banking & Finance" piece with excerpts from the Bureau of Financial Institutions' annual report to the Legislature. These include financial institutions' numbers grouped by category of institution; a list of Maine banks ranked by total assets in 2004, led by Banknorth, N.A. in Portland; a chart showing Maine banks' loan mix compared to the national loan mix in June 2004; and charts comparing Maine credit unions' loan mix in June 1999 and June 2004. With a detailed analysis of the generally strong showing of Maine's banks and credit unions.
