Abstract

"Business Maine: Southern" piece reporting that Scarborough-based Hannaford Bros. Co. recently dropped part of its lawsuit against the town of Kennebunk after a judge failed to see the merit of the suit. The supermarket chain's lawsuit stems from a December 2004 decision by the Kennebunk Planning Board to approve a 22-acre development that includes a Stop & Shop supermarket on Route One, directly across from two lots owned by Hannaford Bros. Superior Court Justice Arthur Brennan found the company's claim that the development would devalue Hannaford's properties baseless. Hannaford Bros. is continuing with its civil suit against the town of Kennebunk and Boston-based Great Island Development, arguing that the plan isn't consistent with the town's zoning regulations.
