Abstract
In response to Richard Florida's book, "The Rise of the Creative Class," Maine and other states are trying to attract elements of the "creative economy." Gov. John Baldacci appointed the Creative Economy Steering Committee to work towards next spring's Blaine House Conference on the Creative Economy. The author makes ten suggestions, such as playing to strengths like Maine's quality of life; advocating for higher education; and convincing small businesses, developers, and Mainers of the reality of the creative economy.
