Abstract
When Burnham-based Pride Manufacturing Co.'s Guilford wood-turning facility went up for sale, Guilford residents won a $400,000 community development block grant to help brothers Doug and Jody Fletcher buy the facility. The brothers are part owners of New Vineyard-based Maine Wood Turning Inc. If the financial picture looks workable and the purchase goes through, the facility will become American Pride LLC, employing any of the 60 workers that want to stay. The deal might be a model for keeping manufacturing in Maine by increasing efficiencies and developing employees' skills.
