Abstract
"Focus on Greater Bangor" piece on the Bangor International Airport (BIP), which was put on the list of emergency landing sites for space shuttle Discovery's August return to Earth. It stands on track to have a record year, with perhaps 500,000 passengers, and might have the fastest growth of any U.S. airport over the next five years, edging out Boston's Logan International Airport. BIP is early in the process of expanding its parking and might need to increase its number of jet bridges to get people on and off planes. The community itself will determine the growth of the airport, which will not outpace the growth of the region.
