Abstract

Gregg Cunningham, manager of Western Maine Auto Auction in Wilton, notes that the used car market is down, due to successful discount incentive programs from automobile manufacturers and the rise in gasoline prices. Sales and volume are down at auctions elsewhere in Maine as well as at used car lots. Compact cars increased in price from last September to September 2005, but prices for luxury cars, SUVs, and trucks declined.
