Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on the Workplace Environment Index, which analyzes how workers are treated across the country. The report, released last month by the Political Economy Research Institute at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, ranked Maine in a tie for 12th place nationally based on job opportunities, job quality and workplace fairness between genders. Jack Cashman, commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development, said the report helps paint a better picture of Maine's economy.
