Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece reporting that Democrats on the Legislature's Labor Committee last month recommended that the state's minimum wage be raised to $7 an hour over the next two years. Peter Gore of the Maine State Chamber of Commerce predicts different responses by businesses in different parts of the state. Business groups say the increase would put Maine at a disadvantage, adding to the already high cost of doing business in the state.
