Abstract
Tim Spaulding, founder of Portland-based LibraryThing.com, which allows users to catalog their book collections and view the collections of others, has sold a 40 percent stake to Abebooks.com. Spaulding, who was surprised by the popularity of his site, which he started last August, says he will maintain control, but that the acquisition will allow him to increase staff and upgrade technology.
