Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on the state's Consensus Economic Forecasting Commission, which recently projected the Maine economy would continue to grow slowly. Charles Colgan, University of Southern Maine economist who chairs the group, employment growth of between 3,000 and 5,000 jobs a year is expected through 2011. Colgan said the group expects Maine's economy to grow by a half-percent in 2007, about a third of the expected national average growth. Catherine Reilly, state economist, said energy prices are tracking down, easing the burden on consumers.
