Abstract
Under the direction of Lea Girardin, the Maine Film Office works to attract film producers to the state. Girardin and assistant director Greg Gadberry are vowing to increase marketing of Maine's incentive plan to filmmakers here and out of state. Though the incentive plan is modest compared to other states, it does reimburse film producers for 10 to 12 percent of wages for their crew and credits investors for taxes they would pay on income from the film. Kirk Wolfinger, co-owner of Lone Wolf Documentary Group in South Portland, applied for the tax breaks last year, adding that the program is a step in the right direction for small businesses. With a timeline of movies filmed at least partly in Maine.
