Abstract
"Focus: Banking & Finance" piece on the Maine Seed Capital Tax Credit Program (MSCTCP), a Finance Authority of Maine (FAME) program that attracts investors to start-up and early-stage companies by offering individual investors a tax credit. The tax credit has helped generate more than $40 million in investments since the program first went into in effect in 1989. With comments by Diane Sammer, CEO of Emergent Music LLC; Rob Small, director of the MSCTCP; and Kevin Shorey, co-owner of Quoddy Footwear LLC.
