Abstract

"Focus: Building & Real Estate" piece with profiles of Maine companies that rely on real estate and construction markets to build their businesses. Orbis LLC in Gray uses geographic information systems (GIS) technology to make aerial images for developers and consulting firms. Founders Kirsten Boettcher and Rosemary Mosher recently landed a contract from the Maine Real Estate and Development Association to create maps showing the effect of Portland's formula business ban, which was repealed earlier this year. David A. Hamel of Northstar Aerial Photo in York provides high-resolution digital and film aerial photography targeted to commercial real estate businesses and construction firms looking to showcase their properties. Karin and Patrick Gilbert's company, Presque Isle-based My Digital Tours, hosts virtual tours used by realtors, resorts, and others.
