Abstract
"Capitol Update" piece on the Legislature's Labor Committee's consideration of putting a "livable wage" definition into state law. The Maine Center for Economic Policy, an Augusta think tank, did a study based on 2004 data that was cited in testimony. It found that in Maine, a single parent with one child would need to make an average of $14.84 an hour to meet the livable wage standard. About half of all Maine workers could not have met that mark.
