Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on the Legislature's new Joint Select Committee on Prosperity, which recently heard from two panels of business owners and managers, all of whom said Maine suffers from real and perceived policies that discourage economic growth. Charles Hewitt, president of The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, said Maine has to lower taxes, reduce the regulatory burden, and invest in education and infrastructure to support business development.
