Abstract

"Newsworthy" piece with a profile of Martha Putnam, 33, who recently purchased Farm Fresh Connection for $1 from the Maine Sustainable Agricultural Society, turning the nonprofit into a for-profit corporation. She runs the operation from a Freeport farm and works with some 100 farmers and up to 60 buyers. She has a business relationship with Scarborough-based Market Fresh Produce, which will handle much of the logistics. This year she expects to handle about 15 tons of produce.
