    Abstract

    "Business Maine: Statewide" piece reporting that the state completed its 2007 fiscal year with a $19.1 million surplus, most of which will be directed toward hospital payments. The state's highway fund also had a $1.7 million surplus. The $17.8 million that will be paid to hospitals was part of a promise from Governor John Baldacci to reimburse hospitals affected by the error-riddled MaineCare billing system.
