Abstract

"Business Maine: Southern" piece reporting that CAP Quality Care Inc., which operates a methadone clinic in Westbrook, has agreed to pay $1 million to settle a federal lawsuit alleging it improperly dispensed methadone. The U.S. Attorney's Office said the clinic in 2001 and 2002 contributed to "an unusual spike" in methadone overdose deaths in the Portland area by using an unreliable methadone dispensing system and falsifying documents. The settlement did not include an admission of wrongdoing.
