Abstract
"Focus: Health Care" piece on the Maine Humanities Council's Literature & Medicine program that brings literature into the health care workplace. The idea behind the program is to bring a human face to medicine, making health care workers more empathetic. With comments by program participants Dina McKelvy, a health librarian at Maine Medical Center; Tom Lizotte, director of marketing at Mayor Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft; George Dreher, a psychiatrist at Maine Med; and Elizabeth Sinclair, program coordinator of the Literature & Medicine program. Since its launch in 1997, the program has been used at 26 hospitals and community health centers in Maine.
