    Abstract

"Business Maine: Southern" piece on a plan to create a corporation that could hire civilian workers who will lose their jobs after the Brunswick Naval Air Station closes. Advisors to Governor John Baldacci explained that the hypothetical non-profit organization could hire more than 600 non-military workers before the base closes in 2011, and then subcontract services to the Navy. Prior to the base's closure, the organization could also look for clients other than the Navy to keep its workers employed in the future.
