Abstract
Article on the Westbrook-based Technology Association of Maine, or TechMaine, the trade association that was formerly known as the Maine Software Developer's Association (MESDA). The group, which represents software developers, biotech, and IT firms, has ambitious plans for developing the state's technology sector. Joe Kumiszcza, executive director, hopes to create a software testing center for students and is pushing for a $100 million venture capital fund. With comments by Cheryl Phillips-Day, chief technology officer for BlueTarp Financial in Portland; Peter Murray, founder of Portland software developer Quantrix; and Erik Carson, economic development director in Westbrook.
