Abstract
"Focus on Greater Portland" piece on Portland's seven-year-old First Friday Art Walk, which has helped foster an inclusive art community and has had a positive economic impact on the city. Andres Verzosa, owner of Aucocisco Gallery, handed the event over to the Portland Arts & Cultural Alliance (PACA) last year, allowing it more latitude as a nonprofit. It is estimated that at least 1,000 people take part in First Friday, and that 45 to 70 art venues participate, inlcuding individual artists who open their studios. With details on the art walk's costs and PACA's future plans.
