Abstract

"Focus on Augusta-Waterville Region" piece on the Central Maine Business-Education Cooperative, which is operated by the Central Maine Growth Council, the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce and the Kennebec Valley Council of Governments. The group structures tours for high school and college classes of area businesses in an effort to stem the migration of young workers from central Maine. Because of financial pressures on public schools, requests have come in for just two of the 16 businesses offering tours. With details on other programs in the area linking the business and education communities.
