Abstract
"Focus on Lewiston-Auburn" piece on Rachel Desgrosseilliers, executive director of the Museum L-A, which is moving out of the Bates Mill with hope of attracting an even wider audience. Desgrosseilliers, a former nun and hospital administrator, also launched the area's hot air balloon festival. With the museum, she has helped preserve and honor the area's working-class history and engaged the community in restoring pride in its history as a mill town. She organized two reunions of millworkers, many of whom recorded oral histories as part of an exhibit called "Portraits and Voices: Workers of Seven Mills."
