Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on Maine's ranking in the latest quarterly index of "State Economic Momentum." Maine is ninth in the nation and highest in New England, with the second-highest personal income increase at 1.5 percent, much of it from an increase in federal transfers for such programs as extended unemployment benefits. Maine's per capita income ranks 28th in the nation.
