Abstract

Thirteen Maine companies, along with a government delegation that included Gov. LePage, participated in a trade mission to China in September that had two goals: to increase exports and to promote foreign investment in the state via the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services' Immigrant Investor Program, known as EB-5. China's move to a consumer culture and its expanding middle class have opened up markets for Maine goods, prompting an 80% growth in exports to that country since 2007.
