Abstract

“Focus Greater Portland” piece on Portland’s condo market, which is seeing improvement after a seven-year slump. The rebound is being helped, in part, by baby boomers who are downsizing and who want to live in urban areas with cultural and social amenities, as well as by younger, first-time buyers. Some brokers, however, feel that the higher-end condos currently under development are not necessarily what buyers in Portland will be looking for. With sidebar discussing the concept of walkable neighborhoods and giving the walkability scores of several Portland developments.
