Abstract
“Focus: Technology” piece on the partnership between SMCC and the Maine Composites Alliance to create a new composites technology degree program in order to address recurring work force training issues. The new Composites Engineering Research Laboratory at Brunswick Landing, under the aegis of Andy Schoenberg, involves students in solving real-life problems and offers research and analysis for Maine’s composites businesses, an industry that is expected to grow and which needs knowledgeable workers. The lab has attracted the attention of the University of Maine in Orono, which allows its graduate students to take one SMCC class for credit, and the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, which is working with SMCC on establishing an exchange program.
