Abstract
Pineland Farms Naturally Potatoes, (originally Naturally Potatoes) founded in 1995 by Rodney McCrum and a dozen other potato farmers, has grown to an industry that saw $35 million in sales in 2014, a 25% increase over 2013. The packaged mashed potatoes are sold in numerous supermarkets and restaurants throughout the United States. Since 2010, sales have grown at Naturally Potatoes by 15% annually. While the company is dedicated to growth, its larger goal is the build a future for Aroostook County to help keep the younger generation there. The article includes a history of the company, its current practices and future plans. One current focus is on marketing the company’s recent name change from Naturally Potatoes to Pineland Farms Naturally Potatoes, to capitalize on the name recognition of its parent company, Pineland Farms.
