Abstract
With the development of affordable housing, Great Cranberry Island is positioning itself to be more attractive to potential year around residents, which will help revitalize the community. Great Cranberry is one of seven islands that share a 2010 allotment of $2.7 million set aside for affordable, energy-efficient new construction, renovation and replacement housing. The articles describes Cranberry Island Realty Trust (CIRT), which owns five affordable rental units, and details how applicants are screened. Families who have moved there are profiled. [images]
