Abstract

Whether utility companies, such as Emera, should be able to lease electric heat pumps to its customers has been debated as the Maine Public Utilities commission and others believe leasing should be done by an affiliate and not the utility company itself. LD 1558 is a proposed bill which, as currently written would allow a utility company to do that, and currently has divided support.
