Abstract
Portland's real estate market has been strong, however the scale and perceived impact of the $85 million Midtown mixed-use complex in Bayside and the proposed redevelopment of the Portland Complex Co. has caused concern that they might compromise the character of the city. Proposed housing projects are listed, as well as how the city is reviewing its comprehensive plan. Architects weigh in on issues to consider as well. Graphs, illustrating retail and Downtown Portland's office vacancy rates are included. [graphs, images]
