Abstract
Currently 10% of hops used in the craft brewing industry in Maine is grown in Maine, yet historically Maine produced a great deal more. The "buy local" trend is strong and there is a great opportunity for farmers to grow hops and malting grains that could be used in the local craft beer industry. Some historical background and costs for growing these commodities is given. [images]
