Abstract
Three Maine food companies were bought by larger companies in June 2017. Backyard Farms of Madison was purchased by Mastronardi Produce Ltd. of Canada, Food Fork Lab of Portland was purchased by Foodworks of Brooklyn N.Y., and the national chain Whole Foods Market Inc. was purchased by Amazon. The advantages these acquisition bring to the purchasing companies is presented. [images]
