Abstract
As retail trends shift away from brick-and-mortar stores U.S. malls are attracting new types of businesses. The Bangor Mall's James Gerety explains how technology has impacted malls, their tenants and shoppers. Non-traditional retailers like Ao Luxe offers body art and belly dancing classes at the Bangor Mall. Owner Ao Pineda raves about the improved experience for her customers with improved parking, security, air conditioning as well as visibility for her business. Using apps and other forms of mobile technology encourage shoppers and brings more foot traffic to the mall.
