Abstract

A partnership between HospitalityMaine and the Maine Department of Corrections hopes to address the staffing needs of the hospitality industry, which has thousands of unfilled positions, and provide opportunities for people who have been incarcerated to reduce recidivism. The program has been championed by HospitalityMaine's CEO Steve Hewins and the director of workforce development, Terry Hayes. Irina Erickson is one of the people who embarked on the apprentice partnership and looks forward to a future in the food industry.
