Abstract
The 200,000-square-foot shopping center in Topsham, owned by the Larson family and two other entities, rents almost exclusively to Maine-owned businesses -- including Reny's, Day's Jewelers, and soon, Sherman's Maine Coast Book Shop and Music Center Inc. -- rather than to national brands. John and June Larson bought the mall in 2003. They like dealing with local tenants because they can walk over and talk to someone in person, rather than calling the corporate headquarters of a national company. And the local companies appreciate that the Larsons care about them, something which helped when the pandemic hit.
