Abstract
"this just in" piece on the May 7 passage by Maine lawmakers of a bill requiring electronics manufacturers to devise and finance their own recycling programs. The Natural Resources Council of Maine, which endorsed the bill and testified for its passage, estimates that Maine's stockpile of old computers and televisions is near 400,000 units, and will easily exceed one million units by 2010.
