Abstract

The National Legislative Association on Prescription Drug Pricing (NLARx), which met last Friday in Washington, D.C., was founded in 1999 by Maine and Vermont as they were trying to pass versions of what in Maine was called MaineRx. Since then, other states have joined NLARx and more are thinking of joining, in part because of Maine's successful defense of MaineRx. Portland state representative John Brautigam is on the NLARx board of directors and helped to successfully argue MaineRx's case before the Supreme Court two years ago. Brautigam's current target is the pharmaceutical benefit-management (PBM) industry, which he wants to make more transparent to consumers. With details on the meeting agenda.
