Abstract
Lengthy, detailed article on MaineCare, the state Medicaid program, with a focus on a computer problem that has caused many health care providers to stop accepting MaineCare patients. The new computer program, the Maine Claims Management System, was installed at the state Department of Health and Human Services in January and has slowed claims payment to a crawl. MaineCare pays the health bills of 272,533 low-income Mainers.
