Abstract
Maine's anti-war activists have created a statewide, coordinated action called the "Frequent Visit Program," or FVP, and activists in other states have adopted the technique. FVP typically involves an office occupation of a congressional delegate, a roll-call reading of those who have died in the Iraq War, and a request for public dialogue. Rep. Tom Allen, D-Maine, held a town meeting on the war last July, and Rep. Mike Michaud, D-Maine, has agreed to hold one in Bangor. Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, both R-Maine, are more reluctant. With comments by Bruce Gagnon, FVP co-founder and longtime activist.
