Abstract
"Politics + Other Mistakes" piece criticizing Sen. John Martin, D-Eagle Lake, and questioning his historical memory as evidenced in a February 11 op-ed published in the Kennebec Journal and Morning Sentinel. Martin argued that Chuck Dow, who was recently confirmed as a District Court judge at the age of 33, was the latest in a long line of illustrious jurists unfairly attacked for their age and lack of experience. Martin goes on to cite questionable examples including Chief Justice Leigh Saufley of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court; Daniel Wathen, chief justice before Saufley; and Harriet Henry, Maine's first female judge.
