Abstract
"Politics and Other Mistakes" piece on Maine Mountain Power's revised wind-energy plan, following a vote by the Maine Land Use Regulation Commission rejecting MMP's proposal to build 12 wind towers on Redington Pond Range, in view of the Appalachian Trail. That left the 18 turbines proposed for the undeveloped top of Black Nubble Mountain. MMP spokesman Dennis Bailey; Harley Lee, head of an MMP owner, Endless Energy; and MMP investor, Edison Mission Group, all say the 18 turbines would not be cost-effective, but MMP still plans to go ahead with the wind farm.
